Allan's parents and family gave him his first cameras in 1966 and by watching his aunt and uncle, who owned Rykenburg photograpy Allan acquired an eye and passion for photography.
Along with family and friends Allan has
a number of photographers that inspired him, most notable
Jim Krantz studio photography, Monte Kruse the essance of people,
Richard Avedon fashion photography, Pete Turner for his vide color,
Ansel Adams for landscapes photography, Brian
Brake for composition and who was the only New Zealand photographer to
be apart of Magnum agency in New York.
